Me Made Monday: Silk and Stripes

I bought this fabric in Downtown Los Angeles, like,  3 years ago! It took me forever to figure out what I wanted to do with this gorgeous silk. I drafted the dropwaist dress pattern based on my measurements - bust, waist, hips, and then added extra inches to make it a loose fit. The sleeves are called flanges. I wear this dress every chance I get. I just love it so much.

This look is what drew me to your blog in the first place. Stripes & silk, two of my favorite fashion terms! I've pretty much become determined to only sew using natural-content fabrics such as silk, cotton, linen, wool, etc. except for some knits where I need the stretch-recovery aspect of spandex! A friend who has a clothing line gifted me with some remnants of her silks several years ago, and while I'd used some small pieces to make scarves and linings I was too intimidated to use the bigger pieces as I was afraid to make a mistake and waste them. I recently plucked up my nerve and started using them to make clothing and I adore them! Thanks for blogging such a cute, modern look in striped silk!
